It's almost done. I did a rough sketch on how the final infographic is supposed to look like. Here it is.
From this sketch, i have turned it into the actual Infographic.
New Developments In Digital Media
Final Project - Update
From these two websites, http://iconosquare.com and http://simplymeasured.com i have managed to gather some raw data about my own instagram which then will be turned into an infographic. These are some of the data.
The data is all presented in Microsoft Excel. I then took the time to clean the data in order to get the info that I really need to turn into graphs.
These data were then put into Google Fusion.
All i need to do now is turn these graphs into something interesting by using Adobe Illustrator. They will be compiled into a one page Infographic.

Minor Project Presentation
My presentation went ok. I decided to focus on data visualization instead of mapping. I was asked about my plan for the final project and i told Andrew that i am thinking of doing the same topic which is my own Instagram account but i might need to expand it a bit more.

MINOR PROJECT 1 : Useful Software and Website
I will be having my first presentation about the project soon. As mentioned in the previous post, i will be doing an analysis about my own Instagram account.
Here are some of the software/website that i find useful.
1. Iconosquare
This website allows me to pull some data from my Instagram account.
2. Microsoft Excel
I don't think i need to explain why this software is useful. Without it, it would be impossible to handle all the data.
3. Google Fusion
I find this very easy to use. Just upload the CSV file then that's it.
4. Manyeyes
Data visualization tool that i find easiest to use.

Big Data and Data Visualization
When we were told that we need to get a pool of data, i immediately thought about all the Malaysian students here in the UK. It would be great if i could pull out the data of how many of us are here. However, after the idea was pitched to Andrew, he told me that it would be difficult for me to get the data released. He then asked me to find another alternative.
After much discussion, i have finally decided to do something that is somewhat closer to me, my own Instagram account. I thought it would be great if i could analyze my own account. Andrew agreed.

Andrew thought that the government will not release the data as easy as that.

Introduction to New Developments in Digital Media
As usual, the term started with a brief explanation of what the module is all about. I was told by the tutor that the subject requires me to produce two projects, a minor and a major one. The minor project comprises of two small tasks which are, first, Map a journey and secondly, Create a data visualization.
I was then told to get myself familiarized with all the software/website that will be used for the task. After a few hours of browsing through the Internet, I have found some websites that might be useful. Here they are.

Mapskip is a very interesting website. It allows you to tag a location and upload videos/photos and stories about that particular location.

I've found quite a lot of data visualization website but i think that Manyeyes is the easiest to access.

Map-Generator is very useful if you're looking for something that allows you to map a journey.
